This blog is oriented around the idea that it is important to have motivation and a purpose for every day, especially during quarantine. Every other day, there will be a focus and message for the day. The goal is to live each day with this concept in the back of your head so that you can feel productive and uplifted throughout the rest of quarantine.
Day 3: Creativity
Right now is a great time to test out your artistic abilities and maybe even make art a hobby of yours. If you don’t have paints or paper/canvas already, it is really easy to get cheap supplies to support your artistic freedom. It is really easy to get discouraged when painting or drawing because you may feel as though you are not an artist. But, I can assure you that if you let yourself go and paint something that you want to paint, you will be able to release some stress. You will be pleasantly surprised with the work that you have created. With all this time on our hands, you can take a few days to improve your skills if you feel obliged.
“Art Therapy: Journal of the American Art Therapy Association, titled “Reduction of Cortisol Levels and Participants’ Responses Following Art Making,” found that 45 minutes of creative activity significantly lessens stress in the body, regardless of artistic experience or talent” (Huff Post).
Take some time to yourself and let off some steam through art. You won’t regret it, I promise.
