A little over a week ago, the usually quiet town of New Canaan was transformed into chaotic, tree-strewn confusion when a Nor’easter hit town and the surrounding area. Power lines were downed by wind gusts and falling trees, and streets became labyrinths, ending in blocked roads. Homes and students alike were left powerless for days. For the first time in a while, students experienced a blackout that bore no connection to an Outback dance, or a sports dress code spearheaded by Bussey’s Bomb Squad. This was the real thing…

Band and Orchestra Concert tomorrow

The band and orchestra will have a concert on Wednesday, March 24th at 7:00 pm. The orchestra will perform in the Wagner Room and the band will perform in the Lapham Auditorium. The band will play Amen, Ireland of Legend and Lore, and American Elegy. Frank Ticheli, who composed American Elegy, came in earlier this year to communicate his vision and coach the band on this piece. The Jazz Band will also perform Roll ‘Em, After All, and Feet Bone. The orchestra will feature their bass section in particular and perform Romanze and Scherzo from Symphony 4, Concertro for Strings, Finale from the Classical Symphony, Basses Loaded, and Moondance.

Storm causes schedule changes

On Saturday March 13th, heavy rain and gale-force winds swept through New Canaan, causing widespread damage. The town has almost finished picking up fallen trees and broken electricity cables, but there is one effect that is going to linger until June. Because the district was forced to cancel school for three days, from March 15-18, these days will now have to be made up at the end of the year…

Rams lose to Fairfield Prep in CIAC semifinals 4-3

The boys’ hockey team ended one of the most successful seasons in recent history last night at the “Yale Whale” hockey rink. Despite leading the shot total 34-27, the Rams fell to the Fairfield Prep Jesuits 4-3.

Due to the suspension of senior captain defenseman Bo McGinniss, the Rams were forced to move senior captain Andrew Leslie back to defense and shuffle their offensive lines…
