During this time of uncertainty, there are ways to be positive about being quarantined and social distancing. Instead of waiting in suspense for COVID-19 to end, you can find ways to keep busy. Try to take this opportunity to spend valuable time with your family. Seniors should especially enjoy this time because they will soon have to go back to their busy schedule. Let’s all be grateful for this time we have. Down below is list of 20 things you can do at home! Let’s take advantage of this time of isolation and get busy!
1. Binge watch movies or TV shows
There are a variety of great movies or TV shows you can enjoy on Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video and even Disney Plus. During these chilly days of April, you can snuggle up in a blanket and be entertained by comedy, action or romance movies. Comment your favorite movie or TV show that you recommend for others!
2. Read a book
Just like movies, there are a variety of interesting books that are waiting to be read. You may have trouble figuring out what genre to choose because there are plenty! Ranging from mystery to adventure to science fiction, there are more than 40 genres. Lets crack open a book and explore the various types of genres.
3. Do a puzzle or crossword
Lets challenge our minds today and solve some puzzles or crosswords. Not only are puzzles or crosswords a mood booster, but they help with short term memory. If you are feeling extra saucy, attempt to solve the Rubik’s Cube!
4. Paint your worries away
Stressful times call for relaxing measures. Painting can be therapeutic because it helps the mind focus on the image you are developing. Let’s see if you can paint just like Rapunzel painted in her castle of isolation?
5. Bake treats
Flour…check. Butter…check. Keep going through the list and see if you have the ingredients to make your favorite treat. Better yet, have a cooking contest with your family to see who is really the best cook…
6. Write letters to family or friends
Let’s travel back to the old days! Take out a pen and paper and let’s write letters to family or friends. I don’t know about you but receiving letters in the mail is so exciting!
8. Start your own website, blog or story
Want to express your stories or experiences with others? Guess what? You can! Be creative and write interesting stories that you are passionate about to share and connect with others. Maybe your first blog post can be about your experience during quarantine?
9. Learn a new language
Hola! Bonjour! Salve! Aloha! Expand your learning and develop a new language with different apps or websites online, it’s just that simple.
10. Yoga
Hummmmmm…close your eyes, calm the mind, and control your breathing. Strengthen your body with different poses: child’s pose, tree pose and downward facing dog are the most commonly known poses that are great for deep stretching.
11. Make an exercise circuit for yourself
Exercise circuits can be fun and motivational to break a sweat indoors or outdoors. Grab your sneakers and see how many different exercise moves you can do in 3-5 rounds.
12. Go for a bike ride
Enjoy the freedom, control and exhilaration as you cycle through the streets on a sunny day! Listen to the birds chirp and the wind whistle as you rejuvenate your spirit with this great source of exercise.
I hope you find these activities to be fun and keep you busy during these stressful times.
