My fellow NCHS Courant reporter, Audrey Adl, and I ventured into the city to find the best desserts New York had to offer. We started our journey at a cute little market called Urban Space. It is a stone’s throw away from Grand Central located at 230 Park Ave, New York, NY 10169. A collection of vendors were gathered at the market to set up their business. With a cozy environment filled with string lights, each store borders the building and a collection of tables are set up in the center. The first vendor we visited in Urban Space was Dough. As you may have seen on Instagram, Dough specializes in doughnuts with unique flavors that range from passion fruit to pumpkin. All donuts were $3 and filled donuts were $3.50, and could be washed down with a selection of teas and coffees. Of course, we had to try the Blood Orange donut, which was plain with a zesty orange icing.

Another vendor we visited in Urban Space was Hai Street Kitchen & Co, which is well-known for it’s sushi burritos. Like a sushi version of Chipotle, they also have bowls and salads. With ingredients shrimp tempura, spicy mayo, Asian slaw, fresh beets, avocado salsa, and tempura crunch, we ordered the Ho-Lee-Shrimp burrito and watched them make it fresh right in front of us. It was $12 and worth every penny.

Tune in for part 2 of our dessert series up on nchscourant.com soon!
