With both Senior and Junior Prom both fast approaching, the school has started to buzz with talks of preparation. That means who’s taking who, where you’re renting your tux, when you’re getting your spray tan, and so on. There are a few different factors that come into play when it comes to planning out the big night. Obviously being a boy or girl is a big one, but another key detail is how many proms you’ll be attending. Some students stick to their own grade’s prom, but others get asked to both. Because of this year’s close dates, planning is more hectic than usual.

After asking some students how the process has been going for them so far, responses have definitely varied. Junior Alex Merjian has been on top of the whole process. “I got my tuxedo, and planned the table. I’m not stressed out at all because I started thinking about the planning after the assembly we had about it,” he said. “My older sister went to prom, so I’ve known what to expect,”.

Senior Maddie Castle has carefully planned out how she’ll be getting ready to take on prom. “Other than finding my dress, I start about two days before,” she said. “This year I’m going to get my spray tan done two days before, and my nails done the day before.

On the day of, Maddie has a more specific plan of how she will be getting ready. “The day of I’ll just make sure I have everything laid out, then start hair and makeup a few hours before the preprom,” She said. “It sounds extensive, but it’s necessary to start a few days before to decrease your stress.”

Junior Hannah Socci is one of the many who will be attending both proms. Although it may seem daunting, she’s nothing but excited. “Overall I’m pretty excited for prom. Even though it’s a lot of work getting ready, there’s a big aspect of fun behind it,” she said. “You don’t get to dress up with all your friends very often,”.

Senior Max Marsh doesn’t let prom get to his head, and knows he’s got it all under control. “It’s stressful getting a date, but other then that I haven’t started preparations yet,” he said. “I wouldn’t say I”m really that overwhelmed,”.

Kameron Ong, like many others, has been carefully planning out her Junior Prom. “I started planning around early February,” she said. “It wasn’t hard to actually find a dress, but it was hard to choose between the ones that I wanted. It was super stressful finding a date. But I’m not overwhelmed with appointments because I made them so long ago,”.

Senior Sean Jensen has mastered the art of preparing for prom. “The most stressful thing about prom would be figuring out how to ask, but even that isn’t too stressful,” he said.

Overall, prom has been a great experience for many students. Alex Merjian gives some good advice on how to make sure you can make the most of it. “Start getting organized sooner than later, or else you won’t enjoy it as much,” he said.
