This Monday, October 31, students will have the opportunity to participate in a nationwide mock presidential election. NCHS is one of three Connecticut schools, and the only public school, selected by the program’s founders to participate.

The VOTES project, first established at Northfield Mount Hermon School in 1988, aims to “educate and excite students about the upcoming election.” With each election, over 50,000 teen votes are cast, and in the past seven presidential elections, students have chosen the winner six times. All students are encouraged to vote.

Voting stations are located in the cafeteria and the front atrium. All students will be able to cast their vote using school iPads given that they are able to present their student ID. If a student does not have their ID with them, they will be able to fill out a paper provisional ballot. They have a choice between Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump, Jill Stein, and Gary Johnson. There is no write-in candidate.
