Post-midterms: the ultimate education slump. Everyone is worn out and ready for February break, dreading the four more weeks of work. Here are some simple ways to de-stress and feel ready to get back to work for the start of the second semester!

1. Hang out with friends
It’s probably been awhile since you’ve been able to find time to hang out with your friends, so use this time to reconnect with each other and maybe even catch a movie.

I highly recommend Jumanji, based on the old book about a board game come to life, where four high school students get stuck in a video game and have to restore the heart of Jumanji to make it out alive. Contributed by IMDb (Internet Movie Database).

2. Nap
We could all use this. After 5 late nights in a row (or all nighters), I wouldn’t be surprised if you dedicated one whole day to catch up on your sleep. I recommend this weekend!

3. Read a book or few
Be honest – when was the last time you read a book? Now that you have the time – read that novel that you never picked up again from your nightstand and remember what it was like to have some time on your hands.

4. Watch Netflix
Before you’re ready to go back to another four weeks of grueling work, make sure you do what you really want to – binge watch your favorite shows!
Some popular picks that Netflix is recommending this month include Black Mirror, Stranger Things and The Arrow.

5. Cook

Make some yummy cookies or mini blueberry muffins – pick your poison. Maybe order in Chinese food from Sushi 25 or a pizza and chocolate cake from Vicolo Pizza (that would be much easier than cooking and just as delicious).

6. Play with pets
Play tug of war outside or even just pet your puppy or kitten (whether they’re yours or your friends). Science says it’s the best way to relieve stress.

7. Treat yo’ self
Spend a day pampering yourself, whether it’s an hour long shower or buying really fuzzy socks to ride out the rest of winter with. Get excited about warm weather and shop at your favorite stores.

8. Yoga
Go with your friends or by yourself and stretch. Meditating is also a good way to clear your mind. There is absolutely nothing more relaxing than yoga.

My favorite pose is the shavasana pose. You lay there and take deep breaths while trying to think of absolutely nothing. Contributed by Style Craze.

9. Arts and Crafts
Build something you loved doing in elementary school or paint with watercolors because you can. Make a bracelet with basic string and beads or sketch something random.

10. Take a walk in the outdoors
Appreciate some time outside of the house and in nature. Besides, a healthy walk could do some good after being cooped up for days on end studying.

Watch Netflix, play with your pets or make some bracelets: either way, afterwards you should feel pretty relaxed and ready to take on second semester like a champ!
