Community full swing in the spirit of the giving season

According to the Lower Food Bank of Fairfield County, one in every five children in Connecticut has the probability of going hungry or being hungry. In just two years, the demand for emergency food in Lower Fairfield County alone has doubled. This holiday season, many members of NCHS and the community are gearing up for a season full of philanthropy.

Math Department announces 4th annual Math Music Video Contest

As the middle of second quarter nears, Ms. Lee has been posting fliers around the school announcing the Math Department’s 4th Annual Math Music Video Contest. The contest, created four years ago by Math Department Chair Jennifer Lee, was designed to help Algebra students learn formulas. Within the last two years, the Math Department decided to open up the competition to all math levels.

Coffeehouse’s atmosphere blends acoustics with charity

In hopes to raise awareness and money for the Save the Children Organization, CharityLink will be hosting a Coffee House on Dec. 8 at 7:00- 9:00pm in the multi-purpose room. Tickets will be sold in the cafeteria from Dec. 5-8 for the price of 5 dollars. The event will showcase the NCHS Orchestra Chamber Group and solo artists such as juniors Christy Coco and Alyssa Thompson and sophomore Olivia Harkey.

7th Annual Holiday Stroll kicks off the holiday season with a bang

As the cold December wind blows into New Canaan, the town gathers together to celebrate the holiday season. From the trees to the window displays, the whole town is covered in lights, giving off a sense of magic. Kids run through the streets with light-up trinkets, watching dancers tap to Santa Clause is Coming to Town. Parents stroll into stores to get a head start on their holiday shopping, while teens eat their hearts out. This can only mean one thing: it’s time for the Holiday Stroll.

The 7th Annual Holiday Stroll, inspired by a Nantucket tradition, began on Dec. 2 from 6 – 9 p.m. and continued on Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A variety of Christmas characters, including Santa and his elves, were available for photo opportunities, and the Waffle Cabin served hot waffles. The proceeds from the event went to benefit the Saxe Middle School Parent Teacher Committee.

The 7th Annual Holiday Stroll, inspired by a Nantucket tradition, will begin tomorrow night from 6 – 9, and continue on Saturday December 3 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. It will include entertainment from NCDA and the Studio, and the Waffle Cabin will be serving warm waffles. A variety of Christmas characters, including Santa and his elves, will also be available for picture opportunities.
