Courant signs off for the summer

As we near completion of the 2010-2011 school year we bid farewell to our seniors and prepare for a restful summer. On Monday, August 29th the Courant will be back in time for the 2011-2012 academic year (starting Tuesday, August 30th). Students and faculty comment on possibilities of humor in art

In theatre, there is the happy mask and the sad mask. Shakespeare wrote tragedies like Macbeth and Hamlet, yet he also wrote comedies like A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Love’s Labors Lost. Norman Rockwell painted pieces about the problems of segregation and racism, but also drew light-hearted pictures of somewhat caricatured American life. Humor, for many artists, is an effective means of adding meaning to a piece of art, taking the picture or photo beyond its simple aesthetic appeal…

International Night recognizes cultures through food and performances

On Thursday, May 26, International Night was hosted in the cafeteria, where attending students, faculty members and parents were able to enjoy dishes from foreign cultures and watch student performances. Select students were also recognized with awards from their language teachers for outstanding achievements in class, and those who brought in dishes earned extra credit. Throughout the evening several students also highlighted world cultures through their creative singing and dancing performances.
