After nearly five months of painting, sophomore Katie Melland is nearing the completion of a mural intended for installation in the Outback Teen Center late this month. Later that month Katie submitted a 2’x1’ sketch, which was selected in October.

Department head, Jim Zambarano, has been part of the program for the past eight years. “The test has always been part of New Canaan High School ever since I’ve joined, but last year was the first year students can take the test online.”

Some, like senior Jack Church, picked up fishing while vacation with family in Florida. “I was on vacation when I was younger, around five years old, and I went out with my Dad for four hours,” he said. ”We didn’t catch anything, but since then we’ve always gone fishing on vacations – fresh water and salt water, we’d try it out.”
