During last week’s February vacation a lot happened in our schools athletic programs:

Girls’ Basketball:

Sarah Mannelly scored her 1000th point against Danbury in the FCIAC Quarterfinals.

Girls’ Basketball lost to Ridgefield in the FCIAC Semi-Finals. The Rams defeated Middletown 71-41 in the first round of states and play RHAM on Thursday.

Happily Ever After: Then and Now

Rapunzel was trapped in a tower and eventually saved by the prince after he climbed to the top by her hair. Cinderella was magically transformed from a servant for her horrid step-family to a princess dancing the night away with her prince at the ball. We all know the classic Disney story of the damsel in distress: after considerable toil, she is rescued by the handsome prince and living happily ever after.

Off-Campus Lunch Favorites Square Off

Going off-campus has been a tradition for almost a decade for students. However, determining which of the countless delis to choose always plagued upperclassmen seeking the perfect. In order to settle this debate, we surveyed 200 students in order to nominate three sandwiches, one from each of students’ favorite lunch establishments: Tony’s Deli, Forest Street Deli and Chicken Joe’s.

Gap Year grows in Fairfield County

In towns such as New Canaan, Darien, and Greenwich, teens feel pressured to receive top marks throughout high school and immediately proceed to elite universities. Whether it be work-overload, homesickness, or general irresponsibility, many students fail to resolve early problems they develop, and one in every four college students drop out before they have completed their freshman year (American College Testing).

MSG Varsity opens up Talent Show to Tri-State area

On February 7th, MSGVarsity.com began accepting submissions for “MSG Varsity’s Talent Show.” The show, according to the website, is “designed to discover the most talented acts in the tri-state area.” Students must submit a video in one of the following categories: dance ensemble, individual singer, vocal ensemble, or rock/pop band. Video must be no longer than five minutes. Submissions end February 28th.
